Teaching Artist - Violin

Crescendo Phoenixville's mission is to provide high quality music education to children who otherwise might not receive it. We provide each student with a free violin, free intensive year-round group instruction, and frequent performance opportunities. Join our community-based music organization and work with some truly great kids! We are currently seeking violin teaching artists for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Position Options

Candidates may apply for one or both positions:

Position A: Beginning Violin Class (Wed/Fri)

• Schedule: Wednesdays and Fridays, 4:00-5:30 PM
• Location: Barkley Elementary School
• Students: 12 beginning violinists
• Role: Team teach with lead instructor, provide sectionals and individual pull-out lessons as needed

Position B: Camerata Ensemble (Friday evenings)

• Schedule: Fridays, 6:30-8:30 PM
• Location: Ann's Heart, downtown Phoenixville
• Students: 8 middle school string players (including 1 cellist)
• Role: Lead intermediate ensemble instruction

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide excellent violin instruction in group and individual settings
• Develop engaging lesson plans that challenge students and encourage creativity
• Maintain positive, structured learning environment
• Collaborate with director and faculty on curriculum development
• Track student attendance and progress
• Participate in student concerts and performances
• Assist with instrument inventory and maintenance

Requirements

• Essential: Strong violin skills and teaching experience
• Preferred: Bachelor's in Music/Music Education or equivalent experience
• Experience with both group and private instruction
• Strong classroom management skills
• Commitment to serving diverse student populations
• Reliable transportation and communication
• PA Child Abuse Clearances required

Employment Details

• Part-time position
• Academic calendar: September 2025 - May 2026
• No classes on school holidays, teacher workdays, or emergency closures
• Monthly pay on the 20th of each month
• Regular planning meetings (compensated at hourly rate)
